LEATHER BAG WORKSHOP

Duration: 11 HOURS (TWO DAYS)

This workshop is designed for individuals eager to delve deeper into essential leatherworking techniques during an immersive 2-day experience. Over the course of this workshop, you'll have the chance to explore the art of leathercraft while creating a stylish and functional bag. You’ll be able to personalize your bag by selecting from a variety of leather colours and edge finishes. A 2-day course like this is perfect for hobby enthusiasts and can serve as a great introduction to the world of leathercraft. In fact, my journey as a leathersmith and bag designer began with a similar 2-day bag-making class! The finished bag measures approximately 18cm x 23cm x 5cm.

During this course, you will gain hands-on experience and learn a variety of key leatherworking techniques, including:

• Working with multiple pattern pieces to assemble your bag.
• Cutting leather accurately and punching stitching holes.
• Mastering both saddle stitching and machine stitching techniques.
• Colouring and burnishing edges for a polished finish.
• Attaching hardware such as rivets, Sam Browne studs, magnetic clasps, and D-rings.
• Installing an internal pocket to enhance functionality.
• Using a hot foil machine to imprint a “handmade” logo for a professional touch.
• Properly glueing leather components with Eco Stick adhesive.

This hands-on experience will equip you with foundational skills and knowledge to apply to future leathercraft projects.
