Care Guidelines

We use the highest-quality leathers to make our bags. The materials are specially selected from top European tanneries (in Italy and the UK). The main body of each bag is produced from exemplary vegetable-tanned leathers. Vegetable tanning is an artisanal tanning process using organic materials. Vegetable tanned leathers have considerable advantages compared to other types (chromed and patent leathers, for example). You will find that colour and texture look more natural and organic; bags have pleasant natural smell and the material is exceptionally strong and durable.

A vegetable tanned leather bag can last a lifetime, reflecting the character of its owner as it ages. Due to its organic aging features vegetable tanned leathers acquire a beautiful and unique patina with age, and the colour darkens over time. Various scratches and rubs become the imprint of your use and add to the personality of the bag, making it a true companion on your life’s journey.

However, in order for your leather bag to withstand the test of time and age beautifully, the product requires special care. Please look after your bag and try to follow suggestions below.

Leather

How to prevent colour transfer: as with any other naturally dyed products there is a risk of pigment rubbing off the straps and bag leather when the item is new. Please keep this in mind and avoid wearing light-coloured clothing when using the bag for the first few weeks. Neutral leather cream can be applied if the issue persists. At the same time, please also be careful in order to prevent colour transfer from dark clothing (for example, denim) onto your bag, which may occur in the event of prolonged rubbing and contact.

How to store: keep your bag in a cool, dry place. It is advisable to store our bags in specially-provided dust bags. Leather bags are prone to uneven decolourisation, and cracks might appear if the item is kept in bright sunlight for prolonged periods. Do not store bags in plastic bags in order to prevent mildew. When storing for an extended time, please fill the bag with stuffing to help it retain its shape and prevent wrinkles.

How to clean: clean your bag with a damp cloth without any soap or chemicals. Any fresh stains and spills should be cleaned as quickly as possible. Please keep pens and cosmetics in pouches or clear bags inside the bag in order to avoid liquids leaking and staining the materials. Ink marks, fats and oil stains are usually not removable.

Conditioning and scratches: In order to smooth out scratches, condition the leather, and revive its colour, please use special leather cream and conditioner, for example, carnauba cream. It works very well on smooth new or aged leathers and buffs to a nice mellow shine. This also provides a water and dirt resistant coat for your leather. Apply product to cloth or wool rather than directly onto the leather. These steps are not recommended for use on suede.

Extreme weather: try not to carry your bag in extreme weather. If the leather becomes too wet from pouring rain, for example, it might affect the shape; dry the bag at room temperature and do not expose it to high heat.

Suede

Some parts of our bags are made from suede. Suede is a very delicate material. Please avoid carrying it over white and light-coloured articles of clothing, as slight staining might occur.

Please keep suede away from direct sunlight and rain.

If suede parts become wet, let them dry naturally at room temperature.

Please use special suede protection sprays to water- and dirt-proof any suede elements.
